Description

Day 1: Bay of Islands Day Tour with Hole in the Rock Dolphin Cruise Depart Auckland at around 7:30 AM and travel to Paihia in the beautiful Bay of Islands. Journey through native bush and lush farmland, enjoying engaging commentary from your experienced local driver-guide. After a stroll around Paihia, board a half-day cruise to explore the region’s 144 picturesque islands and sheltered waters.  Keep an eye out for dolphins, whales, seals and birds. Cruise out along the Cape Brett Peninsula to the famous ‘Hole in the Rock’. If conditions are just right, your skipper will navigate the boat through the hole. Admire great views from the large outdoor viewing decks. After returning to shore, head back to Auckland arriving around 8:10 PM.  Day 2: Hobbiton Movie Set & Waitomo Caves Day Tour Board your coach at around 7:30 AM in Auckland and travel south to Matamata, home of the Hobbiton movie set. Discover the specially-built set and behind-the-scenes stories on an official 2-hour guided tour. Pose for photos outside Hobbit holes, the Green Dragon Inn, the Mill and more. Feast on a delicious lunch at the Green Dragon Inn before climbing onboard your coach. Journey through scenic countryside to the township of Waitomo. Join an official 45-minute Waitomo Caves tour to marvel at stalactites, stalagmites, columns and pillars. Visit the breathtaking Cathedral cave, before taking a short underground boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto. Admire glowworms twinkling overhead in the darkness. At the end of your tour, join the coach for the return drive Auckland, arriving around 8:10 PM.
