Not always just pizza and pasta, Auckland Italian Restaurants are romantic, intimate affairs. Relax by the harbour, or inside a leafy courtyard, and enjoy some authentic Italian cooking just like mama used to make.
Italian Restaurants in Auckland are numerous, and stretch far and wide. From the sprawling North Shore, down through Devonport, to the CBD, Mission Bay, Manakau and beyond, Italian food is big here. Ponsonby Road and Parnell Road both have several very popular Italian eateries, from pizzerias to pasta houses to candelit trattorias. Tamaki Drive, out east in Mission Bay, also has a good row of Italian restaurants, with superb sea views. The hotel triangle contained by Symonds Street, Queen Street and Beach Road has some respected Italian eateries, always busy on weekday lunchtimes, but just as good at night time. Manukau Road, to the south, has a good strip of pizzerias, as does Dominion Road. But if you're based in the CBD, just wander down to Chancery, or Viaduct Harbour, where you'll be spoiled for choice.
