The Occidental Bar on Vulcan Lane is the place for Auckland-based lovers of Belgian Beer, such as Stella Artois and Belle-Vue, and Wheat Beers like Hoegaarden and Leffe.
The Occidental Hotel was opened as long ago as 1870 by an American sailor named Edward Perkins. In 1999 it underwent a metamorphosis into The Occidental Belgium Beer Cafe, the first authentic Belgian Beer Cafe in the Southern Hemisphere.
The bar serves excellent food, an all-encompassing choice of Belgian beer complemented by some of the finest wines from New Zealand and Australia.
