Your adventure begins with a short trip from Auckland in our luxury Mercedes Sprinter. Our first stop is a visit to a charming local farm shop, where we kick off the day with coffee and a classic Kiwi morning slice. Here, we stock up on fresh, local produce for our BBQ.
Next, we head to the stunning Muriwai Beach to take in breathtaking views of the gannet colony and legendary black sands. This scenic stop is a perfect introduction to the natural beauty of the region.
Wine, Beer, Gin, and Whisky Tasting at Vineyard Cottages
Upon arrival at Vineyard Cottages, you'll enjoy a taste of local wines, beer, and for the adventurous, gin and whisky. As we stroll through the property, Elle shares the story of revitalizing the vineyards and her innovative approach to managing them. You'll visit the vines and learn about the history and significance of this wine region to New Zealand's wine industry.
With fruit on the trees year-round, there's an abundance of jams, chutneys, olive oil, and pickles to sample. Enjoy local cheeses and sourdough bread while the BBQ is lit, and salads are prepared. Whether you prefer to help in the kitchen or simply relax in the beautiful surroundings, there's something for everyone.
A Delightful Local Feast and Relaxing Afternoon
Lunch is served on the deck, featuring a variety of local delicacies. After savouring the main course, it's time for dessert, a highlight of the experience.
As we head back to the city at a leisurely pace, you'll have plenty of opportunities to purchase locally made gifts. Depending on the season, you might even get to help pick olives or plums and discover why Vineyard Cottages' pavlova is considered one of the best.
