Because it's the largest city in New Zealand, Transport in Auckland is comprehensive and easy to navigate. From private hire vehicles, to the public bus and train networks, it's not hard to get around once you're used to the 'system'.
Transport in Auckland is, unsurprisingly, some of the best in the country. If you want to travel under your own steam, there are plenty of places to hire cars, caravans and camper vans. The public bus network is affordable, reliable and frequent, and will get you anywhere you need to go, both in the CBD and the suburbs. There are also plenty of coach charter companies operating trips out to major sights, so Auckland makes a great base if you're planning to explore further. National trains enter and leave Auckland all day every day, with many scenic journeys passing through here. The local system, though, is limited, with just three lines. Auckland International Airport is just 40 mins south of the CBD, and there are regular buses and shuttles going to and from the city. Most hotels will also provide transport to get you to your bed. Taxis are prevalent, but are always going to be more expensive than public transportation.
