Description
Your journey begins at 6:00 AM from Auckland for a 12-hour adventure.
Enjoy a brief stop at Taupiri for coffee or breakfast at your own expense before continuing via State Highway 3 and 37, where we pause for photos at the famous Moa statue, New Zealand’s largest extinct flightless bird.
Arrive at the Waitomo Glowworm Caves (according to the availability), an ancient world 30 million years in the making. Glide silently by boat through the Glowworm Grotto, illuminated by thousands of tiny bioluminescent creatures unique to New Zealand. Explore the upper chambers with delicate limestone formations and the lower passages with streams and glowworms, while expert guides—descendants of the Māori chief who first explored the caves—share fascinating legends.
After your cave adventure, visit the Otorohanga Kiwi House & Native Bird Park, where you can spot New Zealand’s iconic kiwi birds, along with other native species like tuatara and kea. This conservation-focused sanctuary offers a rare opportunity to learn about New Zealand’s unique wildlife up close.
Next, indulge in a mouthwatering South Indian vegetarian lunch in Hamilton before visiting the spectacular Hamilton Gardens.
Discover 18 themed garden collections representing diverse cultures and eras—from Italian Renaissance to Japanese Zen—each blending art, history, and nature in perfect harmony. Spend around 2 hours exploring this award-winning garden complex at your own pace.
Before returning to Auckland, enjoy a short stop at a scenic Waikato River lookout, capturing views of New Zealand’s longest river.
You’ll return to your Auckland accommodation in the evening, filled with unforgettable memories of natural wonder, wildlife encounters, and cultural beauty.
