Description

Explore the most interesting places to visit in Northland on a 6-day tour. Visit the Sky Tower, Tane Mahuta, 90 Mile Beach, Cape Reinga, Waitangi Treaty Grounds, and the Hole in the Rock Cruise. Enjoy a high level of customer service on this small group tour. Day 1: Be picked up at the airport and transfer to the Auckland City Hotel in downtown Auckland. Alternatively, check in at a time that suits you. Visit the Sky Tower to enjoy the panoramic view of Auckland. Take a guided tour of the key sites in the City Centre. Take the ferry to historic Devonport where you will have dinner. Day 2: Depart the hotel at 8:00 AM and head north to Opononi via the West Coast Road. After 2 hours of driving, stop at the Kauri Museum. Take a guided tour of the museum. Drive to the Waipoua Forest and visit Tane Mahuta, a kauri tree which is over 2500 years old. Stop at the Signal Lookout which offers great photo opportunities of the Opononi Sand Dunes. Take a 10-minute walk to Martins Bay beach. Visit the Manea – Footprints of Kupe, a 75-minute multisensory journey of guided storytelling. Day 3: Depart the hotel at 8:00 AM and head north to Cape Reinga via the Rawene Ferry. Stop at Shipwreck Bay which is located at the southern end of 90-mile beach. Walk on the beach, go for a swim, or just enjoy the breathtaking views. Continue the journey north and drive onto 90-mile beach via the Hukatere Forest. Stop here for around 30-45 minutes allowing you to experience the rugged beauty of 90-mile beach, take photos, and enjoy a walk in the sand dunes. Head to the famous Cape Reinga, where the two oceans collide. Walk the path to the lighthouse on the edge of NZ. Head south to the immense sand dunes of Te Paki Stream. Climb to the top and enjoy the views. If you are brave enough, grab a sandboard and surf the dunes. Head to the Taipa Beach Resort. On the way, stop at the Honeybees café which boasts the widest range of homemade pies in the Far North. Day 4: Depart the hotel at 8:00 AM and head to Paihia via the picturesque tourist coast road. Take in beautiful sandy bays and stunning views of the Cavalli Islands. Head to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the place where the British Crown and the indigenous Maori people in February 1840 signed the Treaty which created New Zealand as we know it today. Enjoy a 50-minute guided walk through the Grounds. Finish the day with a captivating live cultural performance followed by a Hangi meal, which will include meats, vegetables, and bread cooked by an expert hangi chef. Day 5: Depart at 8:30 AM and take a scenic cruise out to Motukōkako, the Hole in the Rock, on a purpose-built vessel with large viewing decks and an air-conditioned cabin. Dolphin, Orca, and Seal viewing is guaranteed. The afternoon is free time where you can choose what you do. Your guide will be on hand to book any activities for you. Day 6: Transport to Kerikeri Airport. If you want to be transported to Auckland, you will be quoted a price.
