Description
This scenic ebike tour follows the Karangahake Gorge trail, an offshoot of the Hauraki Rail Trail between Waihi and Paeroa. The trail features varied historic and natural sights from the Gold Rush era. Guests can enjoy a guided ride around the rim of the Martha Gold mine pit in Waihi as an optional extension.
An R&R support wagon is positioned strategically along the route for refreshments and lunch at scenic rest stops. The tour includes premium ebikes and full support, so riders can focus on the ride and the views.
Additional sightseeing options include a 45-minute historic train ride from Waikino to Waihi on most weekends, and a tour of the Waikino Gold Museum with a guided walk beneath the original gold ore furnaces.
