Description
Spend your day at Te Puia in Rotorua, the home of Māori arts and the Pōhutu Geyser. A 90-minute guided tour takes you through Te Whakarewarewa geothermal valley, where Pōhutu erupts up to 30 metres high. Visit the carving and weaving schools and see kiwi at the Kiwi Conservation Centre.
Next, watch a 30-minute cultural performance with traditional songs, dances and the haka. Then enjoy a buffet lunch of local and international dishes at Te Puia.
Your day starts with a drive south from Auckland through the Waikato farmland, with a coffee stop, and through Tīrau, known for its corrugated iron art. In Rotorua, your guide takes you on a short driving tour past Lake Rotorua, Government Gardens and the Blue Baths. Then relax on the drive back to Auckland, with extra stops for photos on the way.
