Your small group departs before sunrise, reaching Maungawhau Mount Eden in time to stand inside the crater as the first light falls across the harbour. From there you travel by private air-conditioned vehicle to Orakei Basin, a flooded maar crater most tourists drive past without a second glance, and then to the lava caves beneath Three Kings Reserve. - This tour starts between 5:30 and 6:00 am depending on sunrise time and season. Guests should wear comfortable closed-toe shoes suitable for uneven volcanic rock. Maximum 4 guests per departure. Suitable for ages 10 and above. Light clothing layers recommended as crater rims can be cool at dawn. Pickup address must be confirmed 48 hours before the tour. The volcanic field is a working natural environment; some terrain is uneven and unpaved.
