Description
Join Cheeky Kiwi Travel on an enchanting 2-day Bay of Islands Tour & Cruise, exploring the birthplace of New Zealand while immersing yourself in its natural wonders, hidden gems, and rich Māori culture. This fully guided small-group adventure offers an intimate and memorable experience. Travel in comfort aboard modern Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans while our expert guides share captivating stories, history, and insider knowledge along the way.
On day one, depart from Auckland and begin your journey with a scenic drive across the Harbour Bridge. Visit the Kauri Museum to learn about New Zealand’s largest native tree and its cultural significance, then travel through the majestic Waipoua Forest, home to Tane Mahuta, the Lord of the Forest. (Please note: access to Tane Mahuta is temporarily closed from September 30 for preservation, but the forest remains breathtaking and educational.) Pause for lunch at Opononi Beach with views over Hokianga Harbour before continuing to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds for a fully guided tour and cultural performance. Conclude the day with a hotel drop off.
Day two features a magical 4.5-hour Bay of Islands cruise, including wildlife spotting and a visit to the iconic Hole in the Rock at Cape Brett (weather permitting). Spend time at Otehei Bay on Urupukapuka Island, where you can swim, stroll along the white sand beach, or enjoy the island’s café. After the cruise, begin the guided return journey to Auckland, with secret stops along the way, arriving back in the city at the end of the day.
