Prego opened 40 years ago, at the start of a new dining era for Ponsonby Road.
Prego Restaurant has since become more than just a restaurant. It’s a place for everyone, for all occasions, affectionately referred to by many as an Auckland institution. For some, we are a home away from home.
Long lunches in the courtyard, family traditions, first dates, after-work drinks and anniversaries. Prego has been part of the community for four decades. The street outside has changed many times over. Restaurants have come and gone. Prego has survived recessions, renovations and changing dining trends.
But some things have not changed: The warm, familiar hospitality and classic Italian cuisine. It’s a simple formula that has kept four generations of diners returning to experience something they know and trust.
