Pauanui

Nestled on the mouth of the Tairua River, the small town of Pauanui lies directly opposite the bigger town of Tairua.  Positioned at the mouth of the Tairua River on its south bank, this affluent and pleasant town is a popular destination with holidaymakers from Auckland. 
Visitors can enjoy the picturesque walking trails of the Hikuai hills, the plethora of off-shore islands including Slipper, Shoe and Alderman (particularly popular spots on chartered fishing and diving trips), and the safe sand stretches of Pauanui Beach, which is also home to one of the Coromandel's most coveted right-hand point breaks.
