There are numerous walking tracks throughout the park which require a reasonable level of fitness. One of the well formed track follows its way from Colonial Road through Duck Creek Valley and finishes at nearby Chatswood Reserve.
The main vegetation within the park are kanuka, manuka, kauri and tanekaha trees. The park also provides habitat for a range of exotic and native birds, including New Zealand wood pigeon, tui, fantail (piwakawaka), harrier, myna and blackbird.
The pond is home to wide variety of fish, such as banded kokopu, perch, goldfish and short and long finned eels. There are also many aquatic birds that often visit the lake, including little black shag, grey duck, pukeko, kingfisher and black swan.
