Local Picks - Event Venues in Auckland

Our Local Picks for event venues in Auckland are selected not by algorithms or sponsors, but by people who live here and use these venues regularly. Auckland’s event scene has plenty of options, but it can be tricky to find places that feel right for your type of event and crowd.

Each venue listed has been tried and tested by our Auckland Local Expert team. These are spots we’ve experienced first-hand, in all seasons and settings around the city , whether it’s a cosy inner-city spot in Ponsonby or something with a view out in Devonport. We update our picks regularly because the scene changes fast, and we want to keep it real.

One quick tip: midweek bookings often get the best rates in Auckland and give you more flexibility, so if your event date’s flexible, it’s worth asking. And don’t underestimate outdoor event spaces here , Auckland’s spring and summer can be gorgeous, but it’s always good to have a backup plan if the weather turns.

Local tip for hosting events

If you’re hosting an event in Auckland, don’t overlook community and council-owned venues in suburbs like Grey Lynn or Kingsland. They often have great spaces at a fraction of the price of central city locations, with easier parking and a cozy neighbourhood vibe. The key is booking early, especially for weekend dates, because locals know these spots can fill up fast. Also, always ask if the venue has indoor and outdoor options. Auckland’s weather can swing quickly, so having a backup plan without extra stress is a game-changer.
