DescriptionImmerse yourself in New Zealand's natural world at Auckland Zoo. Learn about animal rescue and conservation at Te Wao Nui, The Living Realm. Discover over 60 species of animals and more than 100 species of plants as you have full access to every habitat zone. Explore 15,000 kilometers of coastline reflected in Takutai (the Coast habitat) and learn how offshore sanctuaries helped preserve New Zealand's unique wildlife at Moutere Rahui (the Islands zone). Experience Nga Repo (the Wetlands habitat) and learn about a critically endangered part of New Zealand’s landscape. Step into Te Po (the Night habitat) to meet nocturnal stars, such as the kiwi, the huge Kauri snail, cave wetas, and the short-tailed bat. Unwind in the lush bush setting of Te Wao Nui a Tane (the Forest habitat), home to tui and bellbirds, alongside kereru and kaka. Finish your national tour in Whenua Waotu (the High Country zone) to view the beauty of the South Island, where piky tussock, schist rock formations, a replica backcountry hut, and a rapidly flowing ‘alpine’ stream are home to blue duck, weka, takahe, and the notoriously cheeky kea.
