Just an hour from Auckland, the land around Matakana has developed a reputation as a notable New Zealand wine region specialising in bold reds. Runner Duck Estates, located in a rural valley between Makatana and Warkworth, produces great bottle of red wine that exemplify what makes the region so special.
Over three hectares, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Pinot Verdot grapes grow in sustainably managed rows. These varietals thrive in the mild, northern climate and the fine Syrah and red blends produced at Runner Duck Estates are testament to this.
